| Bio: | My name is Michael. I live in Manchester UK. I am 63 years of age. I work in a shitty factory, making wooden packing cases and crates. I am, or used to be, a writer. I write/wrote Nouveau Proletarian fiction, which is contemporary working-class fiction of intellect and imagination, or smart-arsed pleb stuff - take your pick. The reason I have started this journal is that I will be using it as way of keeping my hand in whilst waiting for the next fictional idea to come along - if it ever does! There will probably be a lot of swearing in the journal. I wouldn't be a real pleb if I didn't fucking swear, would I? Politically, I am an anarchist; life philosopy, I'm an exstentialist; art, I'm a Preraphaelite fan (conceptual art can go suck my sock); Reading likes, Joseph Conrad, Samuel Beckett, William Burroughs ("Junky" only, the rest of his stuff apart from the first half of "Queer" is bullshit), Jane Austin, Martin Amis (although I fear that Marty has lost it somewhat since "The Information"), Thomas Pynchon, Alicia Erian, Neal Stephenson (only read "Crytonomicom" which was brilliant and Magnus Mills of whom I highly reccomend "The restraint of beasts" and "All quiet on the Orient Express". Most of my friends are women - I've seen the future of literature and it's female. I have been married to The Lovely Sandra for 43 years. We have two children, Michael (43) and Tracey (41), two grandchildren, Melanie (23) and Bradley (12), and one great grandchild Silas, born this year. I like football; I am a Man City fan which some sad folk (our Man United friends) would see as something of an oxymoron. You don't HAVE to have an existential sense of humour to support Man City, but having one certainly eases the pain. Actually, the team is doing rather well at this update. | |||||||
